3月31日，我国在南海东部海域勘探发现惠州19-6亿吨级油田。这是我国首次探获海上深层—超深层碎屑岩大型整装油田，展示出我国近海深层—超深层领域油气勘探潜力。
惠州19-6油田位于珠江口盆地惠州凹陷，距离深圳市约170公里，平均水深100米。经测试，钻井日产原油413桶，日产天然气6.8万立方米。通过持续勘探，实现惠州19-6油田探明地质储量超1亿吨油当量。
在海洋油气勘探领域，通常把埋深超过3500米的地层称为深层，超过4500米的地层称为超深层。海上深层—超深层油气勘探面临高温、高压和复杂流体带来的多重挑战。碎屑岩是海上深层储集油气的重要岩石类型，储层渗透性差，寻找大型油气田难。
近年来世界新增油气储量的60%来自深部地层。相比中浅层，深层—超深层具有温度高、压力大、油气成熟度高和近源成藏等特点，更利于天然气及轻质油的生成，而且资源量丰富，勘探程度低，是未来油气储量和产量增长的重要接替区。
作为中国海上油气主产区之一，惠州油田群对保障华南地区能源供应、减少进口依赖具有战略意义。
